Color in Black Oil Painting Statement
My goal for this piece was to create an image showing interesting pops of vibrant colors through the shiny black material of the high heel. I accomplished this by really focusing when I was putting together the image I was going to paint from. I was surprised with how much I'm improving with oil paints. I'm beginning to get used to the technique of oil paints. My painting is mainly about energy conveyed through color. The most difficult challenge I think was just getting started and figuring out what to paint first. I had to see the piece not as an image of a high heel and a billiard ball but a composition of color, light and shadow. Another artist in the class that I learned from was Angela Borean. I loved her use of colors, highlights and shadows and how neat and clean her entire piece came together. My drawing really works in my use of color. If i had a do over I would probably change the picture I took to begin with. I loved the one I chose but if I had the chance I might choose another composition entirely. The best thing about my work is my use of color.

Wayne Thiebaud #2 Statement
I did my studio project on the artist Wayne Thiebaud. The thing I loved most about him was his use of colors to enhance his art. He will subtly line the image with a pop of orange or blue to give the picture vibrance and energy. I especially love his aesthetic and the things he finds interesting to paint. He is a good mentor for me to follow throughout the year.

Charcoal Personal Image Statement
My goal for this piece was to create an image showing interesting shadows made from my own image I captured myself. I accomplished this by choosing an interesting image with dramatic shadow and highlights. I was surprised with how much I'm improving with charcoal. This assignment seemed a lot easier than the others because I'm getting used to the charcoal. My drawing is mainly about shadows. The most difficult challenge I think was just getting started and figuring out what to draw first. I had to see the piece not as an image of a face but a composition of light and shadow. Another artist in the class that I learned from was Kenzie Lawry. Yet again, I loved her use of highlights and shadows and how neat and clean her entire piece came together. My drawing really works in my use of shadows. If i had a do over I would probably change the picture I took to begin with. I loved the one I chose but if I had the chance I might choose another composition entirely. The best thing about my work is my use of light and shadows

Charcoal Takeout Box Statement
My goal for this piece was to create an image showing interesting shadows made from the chopsticks and takeout box. I accomplished this by really focusing when I was putting together the image I was going to draw from. I was surprised with how much I'm improving with charcoal. This assignment seemed a lot easier than the others because I'm getting used to the charcoal. My drawing is mainly about shadows. EXTRA CREDIT sketchbook (Free Draw)
My goal for this piece was to create an image showing interesting shadows made from one of Mr. Gaudreau's collection of random items. I accomplished this by choosing an interesting sculpture with dramatic shadow and highlights. I was surprised with how much I'm improving with charcoal. This assignment seemed easier than the others because I'm getting used to the charcoal. My drawing is mainly about shadows. The most difficult challenge I think was just getting started and figuring out what to draw first. I had to see the piece not as an image of a statue but a composition of light and shadow. Another artist in the class that I learned from was Rachel Miller. I loved her attention to detail and how clean her entire piece came together. My drawing really works in my use of shadows. If i had a do over I would probably change the picture I took to begin with. I loved the one I chose but if I had the chance I might choose sculpture entirely. The best thing about my work is my use of light and shadows
